As a first-generation Cuban American who grew up in Miami, I have experienced firsthand the powerful impact of entrepreneurship. My childhood in this vibrant, culturally diverse city, enriched by my Cuban heritage, offered me a unique perspective on how entrepreneurship can be a catalyst for empowerment and social transformation. The entrepreneurial energy that pervades Miami has significantly shaped my academic and professional journey, igniting a deep passion for exploring and nurturing various forms of entrepreneurship. This personal experience has not only guided my research focus on nascent and women’s entrepreneurship but also fuels my dedication to mentoring and supporting aspiring entrepreneurs from all walks of life.
Currently, I am a Professor of Entrepreneurship at Babson College. I teach courses in international management, strategy, and entrepreneurship.
